Part Number Change Announcement 
Effective Jan 3, 2011
As part of our continuing efforts to support our customers globally, Stackpole will be adopting a new part
numbering system. There are three main reasons for the part number change:
1. It was frequently mentioned as an area for improvement in our annual customer survey
2. The current part number format, while easy to read and interpret, contains characters such as spaces,
percent signs, backslashes and periods that are not accepted in part number fields in many ERP
systems.
3. The size designation for many surface mount products is based on power ratings that are now
obsolete.
The following is an example of a thick film chip resistor along with our current part number and the new
global part number:
Description – Chip Resistor, 0603, 3.32Kohm, 1%, 1/10W, Tape and Reel
Current Stackpole Part – RMCF 1/16 3.32K 1% R
New Stackpole Part – RMCF0603FT3K32

We have tried to keep the new part number format as close to the existing part as possible while eliminating
the problems with computer-unfriendly characters and ambiguous size designations.
We will begin accepting the new part number from January 3, 2011. In order to give our customers sufficient
time to convert to the new part number, we will accept either part number format until December 31, 2011.
To make the transition as smooth as possible, all relevant Stackpole documentation such as packing lists,
invoices, bar code labels and acknowledgements will contain both part number formats during the transition
period.
