Figure 12
shows the schematic for a typical
TPS54073 application. The TPS54073 provides up to
14-A output current at a nominal output voltage of
1.5 V. Nominal input voltages are 3.3 V for PVIN, and
3.3 V for VIN. For proper thermal performance, the
exposed PowerPAD underneath the device must be
soldered to the printed-circuit board.
DESIGN PROCEDURE
The following design procedure is used to select
component values for the TPS54073. Alternately, the
SWIFT Designer Software is used to generate a
complete design. The SWIFT Designer Software uses
an iterative design procedure and accesses a
comprehensive
database
of
components
generating a design. This section presents a
simplified discussion of the design process.
DESIGN PARAMETERS
To begin the design process, a few parameters must
be decided. The designer needs to know:
