Announces 3224 Product Change
Bourns is pleased to announce a product update to the
Model 3224
manufactured in Costa Rica.
Effective July 23, 2007 with date code 730C we will begin phasing in a new epoxy. The new epoxy is tan in
color, meets all industry-processing guidelines and is environmentally friendly.
We are making this transition now as the Joint Industry Group (April 2005) lists Antimony Trioxide as a
Level B material. Antimony is the flame retardant in the blue epoxy. Level B material is:
a) a significant environmental, health or safety interest and/or
b) would trigger hazardous waste management requirements and/or
c) could have a negative impact on end-of-life management
Although removal of Antimony is not a requirement, Bourns is taking a proactive position to use a
replacement material now.
There is no change in form, fit or function of the product. There will be a 4 week transition period where
both the new tan and traditional blue epoxy may be shipped.
New samples and test data are available upon request. We will be releasing additional models with the tan
epoxy and notice will be made prior to their release.
