USB Link

Introduction

Ember’s InSight USB Link is a low-cost FLASH programming

device used with the EM250 and EM260 family of RF trans-

ceivers. The programmer connects to any PC via USB and

to Ember’s Radio Control Module (RCM) via a 10-pin cable

with keyed connector.

USB Link kit includes the plug-and-play USB programmer

hardware and easy to use software tools that read and

write customer applications on any Ember-based radio

module including customer-designed devices and standard

Ember RCMs.

Versatile Functionality

Developers can now use the simple USB-interface program-

ming tool to program FLASH memory on the EM250/EM260

RF transceiver platform with updated ZigBee networking soft-

ware and customer applications. InSight USB Link is useful in

all stages of wireless product development and production.

During product development, USB Link can be used to eas-

ily program customer ZigBee applications to the EM250

RF transceiver. USB Link also serves as a low-cost programming

tool for EM250/EM260-based products in low-volume pro-

duction, enabling customers to effortlessly scale their FLASH

programming needs.

InSight USB Link and the InSight Adapter

When applied in conjunction with an InSight Development

Kit or JumpStart Kit, USB Link performs the same FLASH pro-

gramming/reading functions found in the Ethernet-based

Ember InSight Adapter. However, unlike the InSight Adapter,

which performs many network testing services such as net-

work-level debug and packet trace functions, the USB Link

programmer is specifically designed to program and read

customer applications on the EM250 platform. The addition

of USB Link programmers with the InSight Development en-

vironment provides dedicated low-cost FLASH programming

capability while freeing InSight Adapters to perform vital net-

work-level debugging and testing.
