The commands are input as plain ASCII strings into the com-
mand line, just as with GPIB, and sent by clicking the Send
button. The error and response box below the command line
will report errors and show requested values.
II. Via LabView
LabView has implemented VIs for VXI11 communication by
default. These can be used according to their given handling
instruction. Further information about VXI11 can be found
in the internet.
Apart from that, the same conditions like when accessing the
device via HTTP apply. The access lock is here only set if
the user sets the device into remote control mode (*RST or
LOCK 1). Unlocking the access is also done automatically
after 10 minutes resp. when the remote control is termina-
ted. In case the access lock is terminated automatically, the
device remains in remote control. Now any user can take
over the control. From that moment, the next user won‘t have
exclusive access because the access lock is not set. We
thus recommend to terminate remote control and activate it
again when taking over device access.
III. Via other programming languages
Generally the same as with LabView or HTTP. The user
has to provide the appropriate communication with VXI11
protocol, transporting the SCPI commands as correct ASCII
strings to the device.
IV. Via the USB port
The Ethernet card features an additional interface, a USB
port of type A. This interface works identically to the IF-U1
USB card. Also see section 4.
But different conditions do apply here:
- no SCPI, no VXI11, no HTTP, no website
- transmission speed is tied to 57600 Baud
- USB driver required
- Communication via LabView and other languages only
by the object orientated communication protocol (see
section 7.) resp. the corresponding LabView VIs.
4.6.4 The USB port / Firmware updates
The additional USB port can be used as an alternative way of
communication with the device following the given conditions
in section 4.6.3, paragraph IV.
It is also used to update the firmware of the device or the
Ethernet card itself.
Firmware updates are done with a special update tool and a
new firmware version, which are obtainable from the supplier
of your hardware upon request.
4.6.5 The reset button
Is used to reset the network parameters of the device to
defaults. Also see section 4.6.1.
