OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) displays are solid state devices consisting of
thin films of organic molecules which create light when an electric current is
applied to them.
OLED displays have a number of advantages over other technologies. They feature
high contrast and ultra sharp images - the self-emitting light provides excellent
visibility and there is no viewing angle problem. OLED technology has a fast
response, up to 1000 times faster than LCD displays, and handles video rendering
and games excellently with no blurred images. OLED displays are thin and

polymer display industry. The Organic Light Emitting Diodes offer vivid colour and contrast,
video capability, wide viewing angle and a thin-form factor. The displays are available in
different sizes and in a variety of colours.

The PMO09704 from Pacer is a 2.4" 128x64 mono colour (yellow) OLED display which
requires only a 3.3V supply. Operating lifetimes of up to 66000 hours can be achieved.

Power consumption is low, as unlike LCD no backlight is required, and the displays
have a wide operating temperature range. OLED technology also offers the
possibility of flexible displays.
Applications are potentially very wide for this technology - it currently suits
portable and handheld communications and consumer electronic devices, and as
larger sizes become available more industrial, automotive and larger consumer
applications will be able to benefit.

Due to their fast response time small animations or trailers look brilliant on
4-Bit grayscale monochrome Pictiva™ OLED displays. In full colour you even get the perfect
mini-TV experience.
Wide viewing angle
Their self-emissive technology delivers a constant high contrast over the whole viewing angle
of 180° both horizontally and vertically.
Thin-form factor
Our displays offer much more flexibility for design-in due to a thin-form factor.
