2.2 Receiver architecture
The functional architecture of the J-F2 receivers is shown in Figure 1.
Note: LNA is included in the GPS chip for passive antenna operation.
2.1.1 Compatibility
The J-F2 incorporates a new technology far advanced compared to the previous SiRFstarIII designs. Offering an
upgrade path from existing Navman and competitive designs.
J-F2 incorporates the same footprint as the Jupiter3 (J3) with the same pad dimensions. Pinouts are adapted to make
use of the SiRFstarIV advanced technology. Please check the required integration requirements for more details.
Note that the J-F2 is not backwards compatible with the J3.
NMEA version 3.0 protocol is supported as well as the new SiRF ONE SOCKET binary PROTOCOL (OSP).
