Output Drive Options:
SDRAMs use LVTTL I/O standard, typically 3.3V. The output switching range for a 3.3V LVTTL is 0.4 to 2.4V. Because
of the large voltage swing, LVTTL can experience ground bounce and other signal integrity issues with wide buses
when driving high capacitive loads.
Traditional SDRAMs are designed to drive large capacitive loads and are specified with drive capabilities of over
120mA. For certain applications this high drive capability can be a disadvantage and may cause signal integrity issues
including overshoot, undershoot, and signal ringing which causes EMI issues.
To provide system designers with an alternative solution, ISSI has designed SDRAMs with both Standard and
Reduced Strength Output Drive as outlined.
