Visible LEDs: Power LED
Visible LEDs have a high luminous efficiency compared to incandescent bulbs, and
this efficiency is forecast to increase further in future, leading to their adoption in a
growing number of applications. Additionally, lifetimes of 50K hours+ can be
confidently predicted in many cases.
Typically, LEDs have been driven at low power with a minimum power dissipation
of 150 mW, so that most lighting applications required numerous low-power LEDs.
Avago Technologies' new InGaN 1W High Power LED is an easy-to-use
high flux output SMD package. It is designed to be compatible with the
industry standard IR solder reflow process which makes for easy assembly. It has a
moisture sensitivity level of 2a, placing it among the best in the high power LED package
market. With a floor life of up to four weeks (@30°C and not more than 60% relative
humidity), customers have more flexibility in planning their production schedules.
With an exposed die-attach pad design, heat easily flows out of the LED region thereby
achieving a very low package thermal resistance of 10°C/W. Coupled with a heat and UV-
resistant silicone encapsulant, the LED is well-protected to provide a trouble-free long
operating life. The slim package profile and the smooth radiation pattern make Avago's High
Power LED ideal for many solid state lighting applications.

Lamina ATLAS provides the industry's best LED light output with over 200 and 140 lumens
available from the Daylight and Warm White versions respectively.
As the first real LED alternative to halogen and tungsten filament ATLAS Warm White is
perfect for illuminating interior spaces of home and leisure, whilst the Daylight White model
of rivals incandescent and fluorescent sources. Also available is an RGB solution that
provides a homogenous colour mix from a single component, allowing the creation of
dazzling effects impossible to achieve with other technologies.
With an unrivalled thermal resistance of just 3.5°C/W, heatsinking requirements can be
minimised and LED junction temperatures stay lower - leading to more light output in the
application and a higher degree of reliability.
ATLAS features a lambertian light emission pattern that can be optically controlled with
coordinating wide, medium and narrow optics. Prototyping has never been easier - ATLAS
can be bought presoldered on the EZ-Connect PCB, enabling 'plug and play' operation, and
pretapped heatsinks are available.
