Intelligent Remote Monitoring and Management with

Multi-Tech’s Intelligent Wireless Router

The Customer’s Need

More and more businesses need network connectivity solutions for remote, portable and back-up applications. They are

looking for a quick, secure and cost-effective solution for connecting to the Internet from anywhere. Companies also need the

flexibility that is provided with automatic and persistent, high-speed connectivity.

Keeping an eye on remote facilities and assets with web cameras is not always an option in locations where

broadband is unavailable or cost-prohibitive. Companies need an always-on, round the clock surveillance solution

that will automatically reestablish the data link when service is interrupted. An intelligent router is an ideal data

communications solution for surveillance. It seamlessly connects to web cameras and provides automatic, persistent

connectivity necessary for mission-critical applications, such as keeping assets secure.

Application 2:

A power generator company sells natural gas powered generators that are deployed in sparse rural areas in the UK and

Ireland to power cell towers where grid power is not available. A MultiModem

Ethernet port inherent to the generator for remote industrial asset management. Multi-Tech’s wireless router provides

a means to remotely determine pressure, temperature, power usage, gas flow rates and many other aspects of the

generators’ real-time information. The wireless router also provides capabilities for remote inbound secure access for

generator firmware upgrades, diagnostics and monitoring.

Application 3:

After disasters, insurance companies need to quickly set up portable claim shops enabled with a data communica-

tions solution. In emergency situations, when land-based broadband systems have been compromised and are

unavailable, the temporary office is equipped with a MultiModem rCell wireless router for a cost-effective and instant

solution to provide secure communications with headquarters via a VPN tunnel.

Application 4:

Legacy retail or gaming kiosk terminals, located in convenience stores and other retail environments, utilize analog

modems to transmit transaction information over PSTN lines at a reoccurring fixed rate. This system requires an

analog modem at each site and restricts the placement of these terminals to where they can be tethered to landlines.

A faster, more flexible and less expensive solution is to connect multiple terminals via a MultiModem rCell wireless

router with an Ethernet port supporting TCP/IP communication utilizing the cellular network.
