Timer Output
Initiating PING-PONG Mode
First, ensure that both counter/timers are not running.
Follow the steps below to initiate the PING-PONG mode:
1. Set T8 into SINGLE-PASS mode (CTR0, bit 6)
2. Set T16 into SINGLE-PASS mode (CTR2, bit 6)
3. Set the PING-PONG mode (CTR1 bits [3:2])
4. Finally, start PING-PONG mode by enabling either T8 (CTR0, D7) or T16 (CTR2,
If you stop the timer and restart the timer, reload the initial value to avoid an unknown
previous value.
During PING-PONG Mode
The enable bits of T8 and T16 (CTR0, D7; CTR2, D7) are set and cleared alternately by
hardware. The time-out bits (CTR0, bit 5; CTR2, bit 5) are set every time the counter/
timers reach the terminal count.
The output logic for the timers is displayed in
T8_OUT when bit 0 of CTR0 is set. P35 is used to output the value of T16_OUT when bit
