3. Hardware Setup
The only external hardware connections required by the PoE-VOICE-EB are power and a connection to a network.
All required system configuration is performed over the network, saving the board space and cost of an LCD
screen or dedicated UART interface. The board may be powered directly from the Ethernet cable using PoE or
from a separate universal power adapter.
Injecting power into an Ethernet Cable:
Power can be injected into an Ethernet cable using an IEEE 802.3af compliant power injector such as the
PHIHONG PSA16U-480. This power injector is widely available for approximately $25 from distributors such as
