Application Description:
Signage is an extremely important safety component for
onshore and offshore drilling rigs. It can also be a
monumental, confusing task for those responsible. But
not for 3M. We can assist in complying to existing
specifications and writing customer-specific documents
no matter where in the world the rig operates.
Example of one company’s specification:
Luminous Film: Material shall meet the luminance
requirements of ASTM 2072 and IMO (International
Maritime Organization) A.752 (18). Material shall
conform to the flammability standards established in the
NFPA Class A Life Safety Code 101 (tested as per ASTM
E 84-95). Material shall meet the US Federal Railroad
Administration guidelines for flame spread and smoke
density (tested as per ASTM E162 & E662). 3M™
Luminous Film Series 6900 is known to meet the
above requirements
Retroreflective Film: Material shall conform to all the
requirements specified in ASTM D 4956-01 for Type IX
Sheeting. 3M™ Scotchlite™ Diamond Grade™ Series
3990 is known to meet the above requirement
