2.5 Power on eXperimenter Kit
The U-Boot bootloader, Linux kernel, and file system is burned to flash memory during
manufacturing and provides the necessary commands to interact with the AM3517 SOM-M2
and boot into an operating system.
You are now ready to work with the AM3517 SOM-M2 using the Linux kernel or U-Boot. For
information on how to load the board support library (BSL) sample programs, as well as other
details about the AM3517 eXperimenter Kit, please refer to the Zoom AM3517 Development

Make sure the development kit is set-up as described in the "Connect
Development Kit to PC" Section.
Start the terminal program you installed on your PC in the "Terminal Emulation
Installation" Section.
Verify that the serial port settings are correct. See Figure 2.6.
Move the “POWER ON/OFF” switch to the “ON” position to boot the kit.
In your PC’s terminal emulation program, you should see U-Boot launch. If you
press any key before the autoboot countdown finishes, you will receive a U-Boot
prompt. Otherwise, U-Boot will automatically launch the Linux kernel.
Note: A demonstration application that utilizes the 4.3” WQVGA LCD (not included)
may be installed in flash memory. The first time the kit is powered on, the
application may take approximately two minutes to load as Linux builds the file
system. For more information about the demonstration application, please refer to
