2.1. Hardware General Specifications
MeshBean2 board is intended to evaluate the performance of a ZigBit 900 module. In turn,
a ZigBit 900 module with the embedded BitCloud software provides wireless connectivity
for MeshBean2 board, enabling it as a node in a ZigBee network. MeshBeans also serve
as a reference hardware platform for the customer’s target devices utilizing ZigBit 900
modules for wireless communication.
The MeshBean2 board can be configured to operate as a network coordinator, a router or
an end device, by setting of DIP switches (see Section 2.3.2) and/or sending AT-
commands. The node’s role is defined by the embedded application.
The boards are delivered with ZigBit 900 preprogrammed with Serial Bootloader and
WSNDemo application firmware working on channel 0x00 (868 MHz band, which is
unlicensed in Europe). For full list of demo applications see Section 2.4. Gerber files are
available with Complete Support Package only.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
For non-European customers it is recommended not to power the boards out-of-the-box,
but rather upload a different firmware image (also provided with the kit) to switch to the
channel 0x01. See Section 4.2 for details on programming the boards.
