Setting Continuity Resistance Threshold and Diode Test Parameters
Setting the Continuity Threshold Resistance
Setting the Diode Test Voltage and Current
Setting the Default Temperature Scale (8846A Only)
Enabling High Input Impedance
The threshold resistance value for the continuity function and the amount of current and
voltage used for Diode testing are adjustable. Continuity resistance threshold can be set to
four different values: 1 , 10 , 100
be set to two different values: 5 V or 10 V and 1 mA or 0.1 mA.
The resistance threshold can be set at 1, 10, 100, or 1000 . To set the threshold:
1. Press Lto see the Measurement Setup menu.
2. Press the MORE soft key.
3. Press the CONTIN OHMS soft key.
4. Press the soft key labeled with the desired threshold.
Refer to the “Testing Continuity” section in Chapter 4 to test continuity.
To set the diode test current:
1. Press S twice on the 8846A , or press D once on the 8845A, to select the Diode
2. Press the 1€A or 0.1€A soft key to set the diode test current.
3. Press the 5V or 10V soft key to set the diode test voltage.
Refer to the “Checking Diodes” section in Chapter 4 to check diodes.
When the temperature function is selected, the Meter displays temperature measurements
based on a preselected (default) temperature scale.
To change the default temperature scale:
1. Press Lto see the measurement setup selection menu.
2. Press the TEMP UNITS soft key to display the temperature scale selection menu.
3. Press the soft key labeled with the desired scale.
Refer to the “Measuring Temperature” section in Chapter 4 to make a temperature
measurement with the Meter.
The DCV input impedance of the Meter is normally set to 10 M . Enabling the high
input impedance feature allows the input impedance to exceed 10 G for the 10 V and
lower DCV ranges.
To enable high input impedance:
1. Press Lto see the Measurement Setup menu.
The 20 Hz filter is the power-up default selection.
function.
Available temperature scales are C for Celsius ( C), F for Fahrenheit ( F) and K for
Kelvin (K).
