In considering response times, it is important to remember the sequence of pro-
cessing that occurs during the PC cycle. The main factor that affects the re-
sponse time is the timing of inputs and outputs and of host computer processing
in relation to this sequence.
The following diagram illustrates the setup used in response time calculations
Although the C120 and C500 equations for the minimum and maximum re-
sponse times are the same as those for the C1000H and C2000H, the break-
down of the CPU’s cycle differs. These groups are thus treated in different sec-
tions.
The data flow that will produce the minimum response time is shown below. This
flow assumes that all signals and data transmissions are processed as soon as
they occur. The equation for the minimum response time is given below the dia-
gram.
