Figure 25 - Ingress Queue Manager
When a datagram (either a packet, fragment or complete frame depending on configuration) is
formed, the re-sequencing block forwards a CI (connection identifier), to the ingress queue
manager which is enqueued to the Available CI Queue. This queue de-couples the re-sequencing
engine from the data retrieval and transfer process. When space is available in the Datagram
Context FIFO, the CI tag at the head of the queue is extracted and passed to the re-sequencing
engine, where it is used to extract the datagram context. If the CI has more datagrams to send, it
is placed at the end of the queue.
Each CI request sent to the re-sequencing engine is answered with the pointers and associated
context for the actual datagram ready to be transferred for the CI. While the Any-PHY interface
logic is able to accept data and datagram context is available, requests for data are made to the
external chunk buffer. As the data is received, complete packets/frames/fragments are
constructed and are then segmented.
Receive Any-PHY Interface (RAPI-12)
The RAPI-12 contains a FIFO block for latency control as well as to segregate the APPI timing
domain from the SYSCLK timing domain. The RAPI-12 contains the necessary logic to manage
and respond to device polling from an upper layer device. The RAPI-12 also provides the upper
layer device with status information on a per packet basis.
The RAPI-12 supports Any-PHY Level-2, and Any-PHY Level-3 modes of operation. When
operating at 104 MHz the lower 8 bits of the data are active.
