CAN features
Overview
The ST7MDT2-DVP2 board comes with the necessary hardware—a line interface
and terminator resistor—to allow you to connect it to a CAN network.
CAN peripheral features
The CAN cell is compliant with the version 2.0B passive of the BOSCH CAN
specification. The user has three buffers (configurable as transmit or as receive) to
handle CAN messages and two filters allowing to select the messages to be
received. The baud rate can be configured up to 1 Mbit. For detailed information on
the CAN peripheral, please refer to the CAN section of the data sheet of the
corresponding ST725XX device.
CAN line interface
The board is fitted with a CAN line driver (L9615D) and terminated with a 120 Ohm
resistor. This line driver is compliant with the high speed standard ISO 11898-2
and allows a baud rate up to 1 Mbit.
In order to easily connect the board to various third party board and tools, the pin
assignment for the 9-pole Sub-D CAN connector is compliant with the CiA DS-102
- specification. This standard is widespread in automation and used by many CAN
tools manufacturers.
