2.3 Address Space
The maximum address space of the H8/300H CPU is 16 Mbytes. The H8/3003 has two operating
modes (MCU modes), one providing a 1-Mbyte address space, the other supporting the full
16 Mbytes.
Figure 2-2 shows the H8/3003’s address ranges. For further details see section 3.6, Memory Map
in Each Operating Mode.
The 1-Mbyte operating mode uses 20-bit addressing. The upper 4 bits of effective addresses are
ignored.
