14 Serial Channel (HSIO)
This device has two high-speed serial I/O channels, HSIO0 and HSIO1. Each channel can select the
UART mode (asynchronous communication) or the I/O interface mode (synchronous
communication).

In the above modes 1 and 2, parity bits can be added. The mode 3 has a wakeup function in which
the master controller can start up slave controllers via the serial link (multi-controller system). Fig.
14-2 shows the block diagram of HSIO0.
Each channel, which operates independently, consists of a prescaler, a serial clock generation circuit,
a receive buffer and its control circuit, and a transmit buffer and its control circuit.
As the HSIO0 and HSIO8 operate in the same way, only HSIO0 is described here.
