25. Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter (UART)
A UART provides a serial Receiver/Transmitter. A 7bit or 8bit
telegram can be transferred asynchronously with or without a
parity bit and with one or two stop bits. A 13bit baud rate gen-
erator allows a wide variety of baud rates. A two word receive
FIFO unburdens the SW. Incoming telegrams are compared
with a register value. Interrupts can be triggered on transmis-
sion complete, reception complete, compare and break.
The number of UARTs implemented is given in Table 25–1.
The “x” in register names distinguishes the module number.
