Clock pulses can be supplied by connecting a crystal resonator, or by input of an external clock.

A crystal resonator can be connected as the example in figure 21.2. Select the damping resistance

When providing the clock from the crystal resonator, the frequency should be in the range of 8 to
18 MHz.
